Bengt (pronounced "bent") Washburn is a self-proclaimed "unaccomplished Mormon." Born into a small Mormon family (seven kids) and raised in a big Mormon town (pop. 1,000) in Utah, from ages nineteen to twenty-one, Bengt was a Mormon missionary.

He later received BFA and MFA degrees in fine art, leaving him straddled with student loans, unqualified for corporate work and overqualified for minimum wage jobs. In 1998, after a short visual-arts "career," Bengt lost his job, got a divorce, started drinking coffee and decided to pursue stand-up comedy full time. Later that year he was a finalist in the Seattle International Comedy Competition. By 2001 he won the prestigious San Francisco Comedy Competition. He's been on the road as a full-time stand-up comedian ever since.

A favorite in comedy clubs across the nation, Bengt presents a fresh perspective on the world as seen through the eyes of a small town Mormon boy gone slightly awry.

Bengt has been called "an intellectual with an imp's perspective". He is known as an intelligent and prolific comic. The ever evolving topics of his show are often autobiographical and mostly true. His show is silly, poignant, pointed, intelligent, quirky, accessible, unique, inimitable, "surprisingly universal considering the subject matter," and above all, hilarious.

Tickets are not available online. Please call the box office.
